Greetings on behalf of the Broward County Music Teachers Association and its 100-plus members across the
county! BCMTA is an affiliate of the Florida State Music Teacher’s Association and the Music Teachers National Association. We work continually to
support and uphold the standards of teaching and to develop programs
for students and teachers. Our teachers are committed to the
advancement of music education and programs that cultivate
professional growth.
Since its inception in 1965, BCMTA has continued to offer
pedagogical workshops, student performance and composition
competitions, theory and ear training assessment,
non-competitive festivals, and scholarships in order to motivate
teachers and students. A few of the benefits associated with BCMTA membership
include professional certification, teacher networking through
our local associations and mentoring program, access to our
incomparable graded repertoire list and syllabus, optional
insurance and legal support through MTNA and a subscription to
two superior publications; the American Music Teacher published bi-monthly and the Florida Music Teacher published monthly. In 40 years, this association has become one
of the largest and most active music teacher’s associations in
South Florida.
